Chris Tillman’s heroic effort hands Baltimore Orioles terrific win – MLB Update
Baltimore Orioles’ starting pitcher Chris Tillman looked in prime form as he produced a match winning performance at Safeco Field in Seattle, Washington on Monday, September 17 in the opening game of their three match series.
Manager Buck Showalter will be extremely pleased with what he witnessed on Monday evening. One of the best pitchers in Orioles’ pitching rotation stepped on to the mound and made quick work of Seattle Mariners’ batting line-up. It was an eye catching effort
as Tillman struck-out batters at regular intervals.
There is enormous pressure on the players at this vital stage of the season. Showing such composure under pressure really tells something about Tillman.
"Just like scoring in a lot of innings," Orioles’ manager Buck Showalter said.
"We're all clicking right now," Tillman said. "We're going on all cylinders, playing good baseball. It's fun to watch."
"It's everyone picking the next guy up," Reynolds said. "We need guys to get hot right now to stay in this race. The Yankees aren't going anywhere. Oakland is a good team. Tampa Bay is right there. The Angels are a really good team. We have to take care
of our own by winning games. Whether it's Wieters or Jonesy or someone else, everyone has to step up."
The guy has nerves of steel which helps live up to the expectations even in the most difficult situations but his job is not done as yet. Tillman will be looking to continue his impressive winning streak to help Baltimore reclaim the number one status on
the American League East Division standings table.
The likes of Zach, Phillips, Luis Ayala and Tommy Hunter will also have to up their game-play to give Orioles their best chance of making it to the playoffs.
The task ahead for the Orioles is a tough one but they have already proven to everyone that they are no longer the underdogs. As the next season starts, Showalter and his men will be a major force to be reckoned with. Surely, what Tillman and his team-mates
have achieved this season will inspire many youngsters in Orioles’ Minor League system.
