Chris Tremlett and Monty Panesar picked for the Ashes
Chris Tremlett and Monty Panesar have finally been recalled for the England side in the wake of the upcoming Ashes tour against Australia. The positions of final pace-men and second spinner were up for the grabs amongst, what is
otherwise a relatively settled England side. Tremlett’s height has been one very important factor that has lead to his selection, and Monty Panesar has earned a recall keeping in view his previous test experience.
It seemed that Shehzad had done enough in the few appearances he made for the England side this year, particularly so due to his ability to reverse swing however he has failed to impress the selectors significantly who have decided
to send him with the second string. Meanwhile Tim Bresnan goes in the main group to provide some much needed and time tested all-rounder cover. The rest of the squad remains almost the same, with Steve Davies rewarded for his brilliant one day form.
Tremlett has not played for England in the last two years, and was ignored for quite some time before he has finally been made part of the official squad for the Englishmen. Panesar has also not played for the team since last year.
Tremlett has enjoyed considerable success with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Surrey-c851 this year, taking 48 wickets at an average of 20.18. Tremlett always possessed the attributes of a highly successful fast bowler for Tests, however he has had to battle with the perception of his character
being susceptible under pressure.
Panesar on the other hand played for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sussex-c852 in the 2010 season in a desperate bid to revive his career with the national side and he had a relatively successful summer with 52 wickets at an average of 25.53. The other options who
were considered as a backup for Graeme Swann were James Tredwell who made his debut for the England side earlier this year against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Yorkshire-c867 this year that brought
732 runs off the bat at an average of almost 46 along with 57 wickets at an average of 31.
Adil’s exclusion from not only the main squad but also the performance side has been one of the most surprising decisions for many cricket fans, who have witnessed his recent form.
"Clearly there are always difficult decisions to make when selecting an England squad and this Ashes squad was no different. We feel that Chris Tremlett's inclusion will add a real threat of pace and bounce to our bowling attack
given the conditions in Australia. Chris will be vying for a place in the final team amongst a confident attack including James Anderson, Stuart Broad, Tim Bresnan and Steven Finn.” Geoff Miller said on behalf of the selection committee.
Those who have made it to the performance squad include many names who have been a part of the England side in the recent past, including Tredwell, Michael Carberry, Liam Plunkett along with some strong performers from the county
with the likes of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Durham-c782 all-rounder. Ravi Bopara has not made it to the squad and will be playing county cricket
in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757.
"We feel that following an excellent season with Sussex http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Monty-Panesar-c2024 deserves his opportunity to assume the role as England's second spinner behind Graeme Swann. Monty has gone away and worked on his bowling since his last England
appearance and he continues to be an attacking threat with the ball in his hand," Geoff Miller went on to say.
England will be seeking to continue their winning streak by putting on a passionate display of performance against arch rivals http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746. Their eyes are most certainly on regaining the Ashes trophy, and one can only hope that they
are successful in doing so.
