Chris Tremlett makes himself available for international selection – Cricket news
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Surrey-c851 fast bowler, Chris Tremlett has made himself available for international selection after going through a serious back injury and is grateful to be playing cricket once again after spending a lot of time in darkness.
The lanky pacer injured his back during the Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033 (UAE) last year and since then he has been out of international cricket. Tremlett, however, has returned to competitive cricket this season and is now geared
up to return to the highest stage of the game.
With the Ashes 2013 just around the corner, the 31-year-old cricketer hopes to be given a chance by the national selectors. The speedster expressed that playing for England once again is the ultimate reason behind all the hard work that he has been putting
in on his fitness recently.
“I'd love to be back playing for England again. That's what motivates me when I train,” Tremlett said. “It's hard to top being at that level and playing in the Ashes while you're in county cricket but it would be a bonus from the dark times I've had.”
The cricketer from Southampton has so far played 11 Tests for his country, picking up 49 wickets at an average of less than 27 runs per scalp. On his day, Tremlett is a genuine match-winner and has the ability to run through any batting line-up. However,
the tall fast bowler’s career at the ultimate stage of the game has been hampered by fitness issues.
Tremlett further added that spending time in the hospitals was not easy for him and he is thankful to God to be in the cricket field once again.
“After lying in theatre rooms, I'm grateful to just come back and play cricket at all,” he added. “The first few games weren't that enjoyable as it was such hard work on my back and knees. I was still feeling it a bit. But I'm not far off my best now.”
