Chris Weidman: Anderson Silva and his camp are deliberately avoiding me – UFC News
Chris Weidman bashed Anderson Silva, the current UFC middleweight champion, commenting that he must call out names who can brawl with him like Jon Jones, adding that Silva camp in deliberately avoiding him.
Weidman, the surging young American mixed martial art middleweight, who has taken the whole middleweight division on fire, is talking the talk since his epic and quite intimidating win over world number three middleweight Mark Munoz.
The 28-year-old, who was just entering his ninth career bout, did not seem to be a threat but at the end of the UFC on Fuel TV4 main event, the crowd witnessed not only a new talented middleweight but also a possible future number one title contender.
It is this reason why Chris has been in the media every now and then denoted by a particular group of critics as probably the next opponent for Anderson Silva. Unfortunately, the Silva camp does not think like that.
Silva’s manager and co-manager both in punning and humble manner have made it clear that few names popped up by the media again and again cannot be considered at all as the possible next opponent, adding that names like Chris Weidman, Tim Boetsch and Alan
Belcher are just a joke who can neither be the immediate title contender not the next opponent.
The comments did the job and now we have Chris bashing the number one middleweight in the world calling him in between the lines as a coward. Chris, also known as the ‘All American’, was of the view that Silva and his camp are calling out people who will
face difficulty in reaching his weight class.
Weidman was of the view that if Silva can think of a possible clash with Georges St. Pierre than why not consider an opponent of a higher division like Jon Jones.
Chris stated, “It’s like they’re trying to avoid my name being mentioned at all for the title shot. Guys they’re choosing to call out like GSP or (Nick) Diaz, they’re both welterweights. The guy’s a champion of 185, he should be fighting the contenders.
You don’t call out guys that aren't going to be able to fight forever and guys that are lighter than you. Why don’t you call out Jon Jones? That makes sense, I’m sure a lot of people would watch, I’d love to watch too. If you’re not going to fight him, fight
me, I’m ready to go.”
The New York lad has made a bold statement, raising a question that certainly needs to be looked at since Silva is calling out people who will require a weight increase in order to take him on then why not Anderson does the same that is built up some mass
and move to light heavyweight division to take on Jon Jones.
