Chris Weidman talks about Michael Bisping vs. Brian Stann – UFC News
UFC middleweight contender Chris Weidman is eager to get his hands on UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva. Weidman’s last fight was against Mark Munoz, which he won. He is an unbeaten fighter who now wants to take on UFC middleweight champion Anderson
Silva.
Chris spoke to Fighters Only Magazine regarding Michael Bisping’s fight against Brian Stann. When asked who he wants to face next, Weidman replied Anderson Silva.
“Hopefully Anderson Silva,” said Weidman. “There's a good chance of it happening and....yeah,” he added.
“I think Stann is going to be looking for the knockout and I think Bisping is going to have to look to mix it up a little bit here, takedowns and footwork, not stand in his range. Potshot him a little bit. It's an interesting fight and I think either Stann
knocks him out or Bisping wins the decision.”
He even spoke about Belcher vs. Belfort. According to Weidman, “If Belcher is able to keep smart in the first round I think he eventually gets the W. But Belfort definitely is a dangerous opponent.”
It should be noted here that Michael Bisping is looking forward to a title shot as well against Anderson Silva, and so is Brian Stann. On the other hand, Silva’s camp believes all the three fighters, Weidman, Stann and Bisping, are very inexperienced to
face Silva. Silva wants an opponent that is of his calibre.
Nevertheless, President of UFC Dana White believes Michael Bisping has the capabilities of facing Anderson Silva but he needs to prove his mettle first against Stann.
Right now, it is a chaos. The entire fraternity is out of options for Silva, which is probably the reason why youngsters like Bisping and Stann are being put forth.
Chael Sonnen was probably the only fighter in the UFC who was good enough or at least experienced enough to take on Anderson Silva. However, after being defeated by the champion twice, there is no way Sonnen is going to step in the ring with him again.
For now, Weidman is waiting for his opportunity to get his hands on Anderson Silva.
