Christel Boeljon seeks to capitalise on home crowd advantage at Deloitte Ladies Open
Dutch Christel Boeljon is quite sure that she can capitalise on the home crowd at the Deloitte Ladies Open, slated to begin from June 1-3, at Golfclub Broekpolder Rotterdam, Netherlands.
With several key LET (Ladies European Tour) stars in the roster, the Deloitte Ladies Open is expected to stage a tough battle. However, Boeljon appears to have made a solid strategy for the showdown.
According to the details, the field of the tournament is featuring a number of competent players.
Some of the prominent contenders include Anne-Lise Caudal, Karen Lunn of Australia, Frances Bondad, Diana Luna, Florentyna Parker, Tania Wessberg, Lotta Wahlin, Rebecca Hudson and Felicity Johnson.
Despite the strong field, Boeljon is ranked among the hot favourites, as she has an advantage in terms of crowd support. Analysts also seem to agree with the idea that the Dutch star may trouble her rivals because she is likely to be supported by golf crazy
fans in the Netherlands.
Boeljon is among the hot favourites also because of her victory at the Turkish Airlines Ladies Open, held recently in Turkey. She displayed a stunning performance at the prestigious tournament and grabbed a 3-stroke victory against her nearest rival, Ursula
Wikstrom.
She kicked off the current season in an impressive style, as she proved her worth at the Golf Coast RACV Ladies Masters in February, recording a win.
The sport’s commentators said that the two triumphs on the LET reflect that Boeljon is eager for another win, as she has vowed to repeat her Turkish Open performance on the home course.
Speaking to the media about how she is going to fare against strong contenders, the rising golfer said that she is in high spirits, and aware of the resistance her rivals are expected to show.
“Looking forward to competing this week in front of home crowd!” Boeljon said cheerfully. She shared that she has always loved to play in front of Dutch fans, which gives her a huge mental boost. The defending champion, Melissa Reid, is not the field this
year.
Analysts said if the defending champion, who belongs to England, was in the roster, the competition would have been added excitement.
