Christiaan Roets all set for his run against Australia - Rugby news
While addressing a press conference on November 10, Pretoria-born Christiaan Roets shared that it is hard for him to believe that he will play for the Welsh side against Australia at Wrexham on Sunday
Roets explained his move to Britain and said, "I just wanted to come and see what Britain was like. A lot of young people in South Africa came over to work for a year and gain some experience and I was one of them."
He also mentioned that he enjoyed playing the sport a great deal which is the reason why he chose to settle down in New South Wales.
Roets is a utility back, who is well known for his brilliance for the centre, loose-forward and second row on field positions. His performance has been noteworthy throughout the Gillette Four Nations campaign and he has so far only missed a single game in
two years at Neath-based Scorpions franchise.
His performance during Saturday's 36-0 defeat by New Zealand at Wembley over last weekend, had particularly gained attention for his high tackling skills. According to the news in speculation, the player will retain his spot within the finalised pick of
the Welsh side that will clash against the Australian side on Sunday.
The player, who had moved in from Africa as a 21-year-old almost ten years ago, acknowledged that the experience he has gained at Wembley has been majorly nourishing for him. He stated, "It was an amazing experience to play at Wembley and it's a lot to
take in at the moment. It's a big learning curve. It's a lot faster and a lot harder to what I'm used to with South Wales Scorpions. A lot of the other boys play Super League so they know this kind of level or near enough most of the time. For me, I just try
to step up as much as I can and do my best.”
In his view point, Wembley experience was a huge one for him and the Sunday’s game against Australia will add another dimension to his playing profile, which is growing richer in terms of experience for him. He said that playing against one of the toughest
teams available, will not only hone their own skills further but it will also pave out way for them to learn through the experience.
