The Inter Milan defender spoke of the collision in his last match against Chievo, and his gratitude towards everyone in Verona who helped him in his surgery.

The collision occurred in the first month of 2010, when Inter were travelling to the Verona outfit for their Serie A clash. The surgery that followed was two hours long, with the player being admitted in the intensive care unit. Subsequently,
the defender was told that it would take time to recover from the fractured skull. However, Chivu made a speedy recovery and was back in action within three months.
Inter Milan will be travelling to Verona this Friday to play against Chievo in the Serie A clash. Chivu will be part of the squad for Inter Milan.
The Romanian was talking to the Inter Channel, giving his views on the match, stating that it is like any other match of the season. He commented:
“It's true, this is the first time I've gone back to the stadium since then but I don't feel particularly emotional. Two years have passed and it's not something I really think about - I try to forget about it because that's the only
way you can move forward.”
The defender further went on to state that the predicament might seem bizarre when looking from a distance, but maintained that it is not a big deal. The defender mentioned that he is not mulling over the collision at Verona, and that
was the reason he was not deterred to play against the Bentegodi side.
The 31-year-old further went on to state that he had been treated with the greatest of care, and was shown great affection from the people of Verona during his difficult time. He took time to commend and show appreciation for everyone
who had been there for him.
“All I can do is thank the doctors who did their jobs so well and demonstrated their professionalism in a situation that can't have been easy to handle, considering all the pressure from the media as well.”
