Question:

Christian Conservatives Only: What is your view of Palin taking the VP job and not staying home with family?

I know Christian Conservatives feel strongly that a mother or women's place is at home with the family. Not taking on career, and certainly Vice President is way up there.

So Sarah Palin plans to leave her family of 5 children, who of which one has Down Syndrome, for VP. So what are your thoughts?

  1. I'm born and raised Catholic and I don't have a problem with her trying to juggle a high profile, high stress job and her family.  What I do have a problem with is her irresponsibility, not taking blame for stupid things she is currently denying, and the lying she is doing and has done.  She is so inexperienced and not a good leader to have.

  2. So tell me what you think the role of a woman should be?

I think you need to reevaluate your view of Christian Conservative.  I don't think its accurate.

  3. I'm Christian.  I'm Conservative.  And I don't think the woman's place is in the home.  A woman can and do what she wants in this age and should be encouraged to do so.  If she thought she couldn't handle being mother and governor, Palin wouldn't be governor. She knows she can handle it all and is handling it all. I think the people saying she's not experienced and those spreading the baby rumor are threatened by her.  How enlightened! I guess talk really is cheap.

  4. As a Christian conservative, I can see how you might have misunderstood our position on women in the workplace. Allow me to explain.

IF a woman has the financial advantage that she doesn't have to work, it is the view of many conservatives that she should consider staying home with her children, but all would agree that she should act in the way she feels led. However, this is a rare circumstance today, seeing as how most families have two incomes.

I respect Sarah Palin because she WAS a "hockey mom" and participated in her children's lives. Through that, circumstances (or in my opinion, God) led her to tackle bigger giants. These opportuninties were given to her for a reason, and she does not have an obligation to deny them just because she has children.

  5. Heaven forbid that a mother actually works these days! As long as one parent can stay home and take care of the kids, whats the problem? Her husband takes care of the kids. Isn't this what feminism is all about? Woman being equal in the work place? If she was a democrat, I'm sure you all wouldn't be freaking out like this.

  6. A woman can also serve the nation and multitask. Any job requires adjustments and I believe she will not neglect her family and may be a great example for all women.

  7. I agree with Elle.

Your notion that Christian Conservatives mean mommy stays home really shows that you don't read the bible.

Proverbs 31 (the model many use)  talks about a woman who

She gets up while it is still dark; she provides food for her family  and portions for her servant girls. She considers a field and buys it; out of her earnings she plants a vineyard. She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks. She sees that her trading is profitable, and her lamp does not go out at night."

This ALL denotes leaving the home to work so her family is tended to.

  8. I'm a somewhat conservative Christian. I don't have a problem with Palin taking on VP. It's her call. She has to know that it's a tough load, but she obviously feels confident enough to take it.

  9. Obama has children too, who's asking him that question?  Your question is sexist.  Only very extreme conservatives would not want a woman as vice president.  Do you have any idea what women are capable of?

  10. Then why is it OK for Obama to leave his 2 daughters at home? Only men can run for office now? This question is downright sexist.

  11. God does not command mothers to stay home with their children and not work. I believe it great if a mother can stay home with her children, but maybe God has bigger plans for her life. If you don't like her, don't vote for McCain. Don't concern yourself so much with her choice to work or not.

  12. I don't understand why this is such a big issue. It is not like she is never going to see them.My husbands family is very conservative I just don't understand what the big deal is

  13. You make it sound like Christian conservatives are sexist. I am one myself and so are many people I know. We do not believe women should stay at home all the time. We do not live in the colonial days buddy. Please know what you are talking about before you open that hole in your face.

  14. Give me a break! Why are not the men being asked this question? Men work and women stay home to keep the home fires burning. Boy wake up little Suzie this is 2008. I have never stayed home and worked to raise three children with no support from dad. All went to collage. All hold very important jobs. If fact one is a doctor. This mom knows what it means to our VP. Stop judge her and get your facts in order.

  15. her family will be with her in the white house and any woman who can run a family of 5 and a state could probably walk on water.

  16. im pretty concerned about the pregnancy cover-up and the brother-in-law firing.

  17. She's not the poster child of  "family values."

  18. I don't have a problem with it, since Mr. Palin is taking care of the kids.  I don't know any Christian conservatives who believe that women can't have careers.  Todd Palin is doing a good job as a stay-at-home dad.  The idea that Christians are against moms working comes from the fact that Christians believe that parents should raise the kids, and that moms and dads should be married and work together to support, teach, and raise the kids. I think the Palins are doing that, no matter who is bringing home the bacon.

  19. *laughs*....You KNOW?

You are a NOT a Christian Conservative but you have decided you speak for all of them?

There's alot of things I "know" about Obama supporters too.....but I'll refrain from telling you who you are ..and then trying to lead you into how you should feel after I've informed you who you REALLY are.

  20. Palin is the only candidate that supports banning the birth control pill. This is supporting the family.

It's worth noting that Gov.Palin is a member of "Feminists for Life", an organization with members that openly support outlawing all "non-abortifacient contraception" (anything that stops implantation of the fertilized egg). http://www.marketwatch.com/news/story/ff...

    http://www.thepillkills.com

We may not be able to overturn Roe vs Wade but there is no constitutional right to the birth control pill.

Most women do not know that if your pill regulates your period, it kills babies.

As VP she could break a tie vote in the Senate, and explain this to the men in the Senate.

Since McCain's father did not live to 72 she will probably even be President.

  21. man if you think christians think the mothers place is in the home, your clueless.90% of christian families have both parents working.and the palins make enough money for proper child care.
