Christian Danner does not think Sebastian Vettel will secure title in Austin – Formula 1 news
Former Formula 1 driver, Christian Danner, who is a commentator for the sport now, has predicted that Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel will not be able to wrap up the title win against Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso this weekend.
“I think we will wait until Sao Paulo, no matter what happens in Austin, really,” Danner told RTL. “If the race in Austin is fairly normal, with both of them reaching the finishing line and taking a lot of points, there will be no decision here. I think
we can look forward to a nice season finale in Brazil.”
Vettel’s teammate, Mark Webber, thinks that it is necessary to make sure that the title is secured by them in Austin because the last race of the season can cause problems due to inconsistent weather conditions.
Even though Vettel has won both titles since 2010 and is still favourite for this year’s championship but some of the F1 critics think that he has just got enough luck. They think that the reason he has been leading over all other drivers is because Red
Bull has provided him with the quickest car on the grid.
Likewise, former F1 champion Jacques Villeneuve thinks that Vettel is very immature as compared to Alonso. He stated that while the Ferrari driver is always calm, strong and rational in unfavourable conditions, Vettel has always reacted as a child; getting
upset and angry easily. However, he does not deny that Vettel is quicker and harder to catch up to when in lead.
On the hand, the American former champion, Mario Andretti, is in appreciation for the young driver. He thinks that the mishap that happened in Abu Dhabi does not matter and Ferrari should not be expecting such a mistake from Red Bull again.
Alonso’s teammate Felipe Massa also thinks that Red Bull is stronger although his team has been competitive.
There is a ten point difference between the two rivals and it is estimated that Vettel needs to score fifteen more points this weekend if he wants to keep his title. Alonso is confident that he will win and Vettel has not underestimated him.
