Christian Diener wins Men’s 100m back-stroke title in Wuppertal: 2011 German Short Course Nationals
The 2011 German Short Course Nationals ended with the scintillating swim of Christian Diener, in Wuppertal, Germany, on Sunday, November 27.
Diener went on to clinch the Men’s 100m back-stroke title against his arch rivals involving Jan-Philip Glania and Serghei Golban by bashing the finishing blockade in a thrilling time of 52.14 seconds. More importantly, Diener moved to 21st spot
in the current ranking of world swimming.
After the race, Jan-Philip Glania settled at second spot by banging the finishing fence in a time of 52.96 seconds and the bronze title went to Serghei Golban in a mark of 53.37 seconds. Philipp Wolf earned fourth place honour in the respective race by thumping
the finishing barricade in a time of 53.90 seconds, while the fifth spot went to Max Claussen in a time of 54.09 seconds, respectively.
Collin Leidgebel and Mark Fischer clinched sixth position in the respective splash by thumping the finishing wall in a matching time of 54.42 seconds, whereas, the eighth spot went to Matthias Lindenbauer in a mark of 55.34 seconds.
Additionally, Men’s 100m back-stroke B final heat was captured by Philipp Sikatzki in a winning blot of 55.17 seconds, while Christian Wittenbrink got second position in the respective race with a mark of 55.54 seconds. Gianni Ferrero grabbed third spot
in a time of 55.60 seconds, while the fourth place honour went to Lukas Nattmann in a mark of 55.63 seconds.
Metin Aydin earned fifth position in a time of 55.82 seconds, whereas, Karl Richard Hennebach had to settle at sixth place in 55.88 seconds. Moreover, Carl Louis Schwarz finished seventh in a time of 56.03 seconds and the eighth place went to Neil Pallmann
in a spot of 56.63 seconds.
Earlier in the day, Paul Biedermann took home the Men’s 400m freestyle title by banging the finishing fence in a winning time of 3 minutes and 42.57 seconds. Yannick Lebherz earned silver medal in the respective race by thrashing the finishing barricade
in a time of 3 minutes and 45.02 seconds. The swim moved him to 16th place in the current ranking of world swimming. In the meantime, the bronze title went to Robin Backhaus in a time of 3 minutes and 45.38 seconds. The effort moved him to 20th
position in the existing ranks of international swimming.
Britta Steffen won Women’s 50m freestyle title in a thrilling mark of 24.16 seconds. Dorothea Brandt was settled at second spot in a mark of 24.67 seconds. The swim moved her to sixteenth place in the current status of world swimming. Daniela Gotz ended
her swim third in a time of 25.15 seconds.
