The Ajax Amsterdam star midfielder has expressed his love for the Eredivisie champions, and has stressed he has no regrets of turning down an opportunity to join the English Premier League champions.
Ajax Amsterdam midfield maestro, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Christian-Eriksen-c9074, has defended his decision to snub Manchester City, and has insisted that he does not regret his decision to turn down an opportunity to join the English Premier League champions.
The Danish sensation has been performing brilliantly for the past couple of years, and his showings have garnered him immense interest from a host of elite European clubs in the recent times.
AC Milan, Manchester United, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-c40863 and Bayern Munich reportedly expressed keen interest in signing the 20-year-old midfield ace in the summer transfer window earlier this year.
However, apart from the Citizens, none of the aforementioned clubs tabled a bid to acquire the services of the 20-year-old. Reports indicate that his agent was close to sealing a £20 million deal, but the technically gifted midfielder snubbed the English
Premier League outfit.
“I think many other players would have said ‘Yes’ to City’s offer, but I had my own reasons for turning them down. I remember my agent calling me to tell me that they had come in for me, but I told him straight away that I did not see any point in moving
to Manchester City – and I still don’t. At the end of my career, we will see if I took the right decision”, Eriksen was quoted as saying to The Mirror.
The Danish international, who has thus far donned the jersey of De Joden in well over 100 games in all competition, went on to express his love for the Amsterdammers.
“I feel much more at home at a club like Ajax. I really don’t want to swap this club for another yet”, Eriksen concluded.
The highly-influential midfielder has an ongoing contract at Amsterdam Arena that runs until the end of the 2013/14 campaign. However, reports indicate that the Ajax management would be offering the youngster a new deal that will prolong his stay at the
club for another two years.
