The former FSV Mainz defender is looking forward to play against his former teammates as Schalke aim to continue title pursuit.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Christian-Fuchs-c9078 is eager face his former club FSV Mainz on Saturday, February 4, at the Veltins-Arena. He stated that it will definitely be a special occasion for him to play against his former friends, but assured of giving his
best for a win.
Fuchs mentioned that he is relishing this moment, and has vowed to register a win in order to keep Schalke’s title hopes alive.
The left-back spent the last season on-loan with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/1-FSV-Mainz-05-c38166, making 31 league appearances and leading the O-Fives to a fifth place finish. The defender insisted that there is no room for emotions in the match as Die Knappen want
to continue their winning run.
While talking to reporters ahead of the Saturday’s game, the 25-year-old Austrian further added:
"I'll obviously have a chat with my old team-mates before the game. I wish them every success, but old friendships will be forgotten on Saturday. There's still time for that, but I'll be interested to see if they contact me. There's
no room for sentiment on Saturday as we are on a good run that we want to continue.”
On the other hand, Fuchs warned the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Royal-95-c40387 Blues against complacency in the clash against the Mainz side. He stated that the visitors prefer putting early pressure on the opponents, and urged Schalke to be on their toes from the
first minute in order to stay alive and running for this season’s crown.
Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are the other contenders for this season’s title, and are level on points with third placed Die Knappen.
"They break up moves early and put you under pressure with their pressing game. We mustn't fall into the same trap as we did in the first match. We're very compact at the back and we won't give them many chances," Fuchs concluded.
Fuchs has so far made 16 league appearances for Schalke since joining them in the summer last year and has bagged two goals in the process.
