The Royal Blues’ defender is confident that his side will be able to shrug off competition from Borussia Monchengladbach for the third spot.

Fuchs expressed his disappointment on the defeat and admitted that it was a poor result at home. He claimed that the team played well and deserved to get something from the game but it was an unfortunate result for the team.
The defender added that both sides played very well and stated that a draw would have been a favourable result. He stressed that the loss would certainly dent the team’s chances of finishing third at the end of the season as Borussia
Monchengladbach won their respective fixture.
“It obviously hurts because we didn’t win or even get a point from the game. I don’t think either side deserved to lose that game. Both teams played very well I think. It is a great shame for us and our fans. We have to make sure
we hold on to third spot,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The Austrian international has warned his side against complacency in the remaining course of the season as the club needs to hang on to the third place in order to qualify for the UEFA Champions League automatically. The player
has targeted all three points in all of the remaining three games to ensure the feat.
“We gave our all but in the end it wasn’t enough. It’s in our own hands. Even if Gladbach beat Cologne we will still have a one point lead over them. We have three cup finals ahead of us and we want all nine points,” he concluded.
