And coach, Christian Gourcuff is more than pleased with the way his players played against Les Gones on Sunday.
While talking to reporters, the Frenchman stated that it was a professional performance from Lorient, and they deserved the point. Getting back in the game after going a goal down against a team like OL is never an easy task, and Gourcuff has praised his
players’ attitude that helped them regain the control of the match.
The coach admitted that Le FCL were far from best in the first half but added that they turned things around after the half-time.
"I thought that we were well balanced, we had the knowhow to come back from a goal down and we showed some quality even if we were a little passive in the first half.”
Praising the visitors, the former Saint-Etienne coach said that Lyon were impressive on the pitch and they created a number of chances. However, Les Merlus were brilliant in the defence and that is a pleasing factor for the coach.
“Lyon had some good moments going forward. The second half was very satisfying, we had chances. But we lacked a bit of efficiency that was our only failing.”
Gourcuff feels that the match against OL on Sunday was Lorient’s best game of the season and they played beautiful football at Stade http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Du-c11689 Moustoir. The coach said that it is very rare to see such an entertaining football game in Ligue 1 and Le FCL deserve
credit for that.
“In terms of creating things, this was our best match of the season. This is the kind of football I love and it is rare to see it in Ligue 1.”
