The Lorient coach has urged the players to continue playing like they did in 1-0 win over Toulouse on Sunday in order to achieve club’s objectives this season
Les Merlus showed real character and desire to get a positive result at Stade http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Du-c11689 Moustoir, and were rewarded with maximum points at home at the expense of Les Pitchouns. The win was Le FCL’s fifth of the season and the result has pushed Lorient to 11th
in the league, six points clear of the relegations zone.
Coach, Christian Gourcuff is pleased with the result but is not getting carried away. While talking to reporters, the 57-year-old stated that getting back to winning ways is indeed pleasing but Lorient can’t let their guard down.
The boss said that Ligue 1 is very competitive this season and things can change really quickly around here. Six points clear of the relegations zone is a good sign for the club but Les Merlus need to find more consistency.
“Six points clear of the relegation zone? Things can change quickly but it's good to have the points on the board.”
Gourcuff added that it was a nice performance from his side but the need is to produce same kind of performances on a regular basis, especially away from home in order to achieve club’s objectives this season.
“If we can produce more performances like that, especially away from home, we will have less to worry about."
On the other hand, Toulouse coach, Alain Casanova is staying calm despite the defeat but has admitted that Les Pitchouns need to improve rapidly if they want to avoid any more hiccups in the league.
The coach said that his side need to improve in a number of areas including maturity, and they were clearly far from best against Lorient at the weekend. However, the coach is expecting better things from Toulouse in the upcoming games and has urged the
players to stay focused.
“There can be no regrets in terms of the result. We still lack a number of things, including maturity, the capacity to take the game to teams. We were simply inferior to Lorient and to what we are capable of doing."
