Christian Horner: Drinks company so far so good, vows for Mark Webber to be on top – Formula 1 news
Christian Horner could not sleep over Lewis Hamilton’s comment in which the Brit called Red Bull as just a ‘drink company.’
Horner stated that so far the drinks company has done well in the opening two races of the 2011 season. Talking about Mark Webber, Horner commented that the Australian is a better driver than what he has done in the opening two races.
Lewis Hamilton called Red Bull as just a drinks company and said that they will not become the panicle of Formula 1 sport. Unfortunately, Hamilton has not been able to live up to his words in the first two races where Sebastian Vettel has completely outmatched
him.
Horner has now hit back at Hamilton by saying, “Lewis Hamilton was quite right when he said that we're only a drinks manufacturer. So far so good. We want to do it in our own way and create a legacy for Red Bull.”
Horner cited the example of the Benetton team who competed and won F1 championship while just being a ‘jumper maker.’
Talking about Mark Webber and his performance in the first two Grands Prix of the 2011 season, Horner seemed optimistic and commented, “The only problem is how to get Mark Webber back in the picture. He is one of the strongest drivers and I know he will
get back.”
The Australian driver has had a mediocre start to his 2011 campaign and has finished fifth and fourth in the Australian and Malaysian Grands Prix respectively. Webber was completely outmatched by the Ferrari of Fernando Alonso and McLaren of Lewis Hamilton
in his home track, Australia.
In the Malaysian Grand Prix, Webber was inches away from the podium finish when he put on a good show behind Renault’s Nick Heidfeld.
Both Red Bulls had a Kinetic Energy Recovery System problem in Malaysia which will be a challenge in upcoming grands prix.
The next race in line is the Chinese Grand Prix and Red Bull had a KERS curse in the Sepang race which they will look to overcome in the Shanghai track.
