Christian Horner: McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton needs to get rid of the frustration – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing team boss Christian Horner has recently stated that Lewis Hamilton will not tolerate another tribulation with McLaren especially after the 2010 Formula 1 season during which they struggled to perform up to the mark and perform alongside its
rivals Ferrari and Red Bull in the second half of the season in terms of pace.
Horner recently announced that his team has signed a new deal with the 2010 Formula 1 champion Sebastian Vettel which will extend the young champion’s contract until the end of the 2014 season before adding a few comments about Lewis Hamilton.
“Lewis is a great driver. He's a former world champion. He's one of the best that there is. And he's not going to be happy if he has another barren year. But that's not to say that we're looking for [him] to come to our team. We're very happy with the two
drivers that we currently have,” he said.
Lewis Hamilton on the other hand made a major announcement as well about his new manager. He revealed that Simon Fuller, who already manages the likes of David Beckham and Andy Murray, is going to be his new manager replacing Lewis’ father Anthony Hamilton.
Since Mark Webber is on a year by year contract with Red Bull Racing Team and is expected to retire sometime soon, it is believed that the team is willing to sign Lewis Hamilton as Mark’s replacement in the future especially after Horner’s statement about
a Vettel-Hamilton combination.
“You would certainly envisage it being quite a busy partnership, but you can never rule it out. From my perspective you always want to have the best two drivers,” said Christian.
In 2010, McLaren’s main problem was reliability and consistency as the team was unable to score some vital points in the second half of the 2010 Formula 1 season. However, it was partly Lewis’ fault as well as he crashed his car during some of the most vital
races of the season which mattered the most for him in terms of statistics.
The 2008 Formula 1 world champion was unable to finish the three races because of his own mistakes as he tried to make immature, aggressive overtaking manoeuvres on his rivals in each case resulting in a retirement. He could have waited for the right opportunity
before overtaking and since he did the same thing thrice, one has to admit that it was not McLaren’s fault entirely for Hamilton’s loss in 2010.
Because of this, he was unable to score any points at all and if he did, he would have been in a much better situation in terms of points until the season finale of the 2010 Formula 1 season that took place in Abu Dhabi.
