Christian Horner: Sebastian Vettel can go to Ferrari just before he retires
Red Bull team boss, Christian Horner proclaimed that the team driver and the new world champion, Sebastian Vettel has freedom to express whatever he feels. He announced that the driver must do whatever pleases him.
This was stated by Horner in reply to the ongoing reports that stated that the driver was more than interested in switching to the Italian team Ferrari in the upcoming season. Many of the newspapers and websites said earlier this week that the driver has
once again expressed his desire to be a part of the red team.
When his team boss was asked earlier today, he admitted that the reigning champ "dreams" about a future with Ferrari.
The 23-year-old joined the Formula 1 with Red Bull owned junior racing team, Toro Rosso. After a year and a half’s successful campaign with the team, the German shifted to the senior team. Only after his second year with the team the young driver picked
the first championship of his career, stamping his name in the sport’s record book for being the youngest world champion ever.
Since his victory, last November, the driver is being attached to Ferrari by the media one way or the other. His contract with the current team will come to an end as this season’s race calendar winds up.
Although Red Bull has shown full determination to retain the driver for as long as it can, Vettel has hinted on several occasions that at some part of his career he would love to race for the red colours.
While talking to the media, Horner said, "One of the things we encourage is a freedom of expression and so on, and Sebastian is his own person and he's got his own opinions. I think any driver at some stage in his career would like to drive for the red team,
and we certainly don't hold that against him."
However, he ended joking that he wouldn't mind if Vettel goes on with Ferrari "just before he retires" in "ten years" or more.
