Christian Horner: Sebastian Vettel wants to win 2011 Singapore Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner has recently stated that Sebastian Vettel is not going to drive conservatively in order to achieve the world championship but instead, he will keep his approach the same and drive for the win even at the Singapore
Grand Prix.
In fact, Horner claims that the current championship leader will be aiming for the race wins at each of the remaining 6 races of the 2011 Formula 1 season. This means that the team is confident that they have the championship in the bag and they want to
drive and check their limits now which might help them in securing the championship even earlier.
“It's not in his psyche to back off. When you do, that's when you start to make mistakes, so his approach will be to go into the weekend trying to win. If it's second, third or fourth, we will take that, but we are going into every race trying to get maximum
points,” Horner told The Times.
According to the statistics, Vettel can even seal the championship at the upcoming Singapore Grand Prix if he wins it and that is probably going to be RBR’s aim as they are currently in great shape and are performing consistently.
“Sebastian has evolved as a driver and young man. We forget he is 24 and how relatively few grands prix he has driven. But he has come into this year with a lot more experience, learning a lot from last year's campaign,” Horner added.
The team is on a perfect pole position record for the 2011 Formula 1 season and it is going to be interesting to see how they perform at the Marina Bay Street Circuit as the track does not favour the RB7. The team has never secured a race victory at the
Singapore Grand Prix either.
With 6 races left in the season, it seems that the remainder of the 2011 Formula 1 season should be a walk in the park for RBR if they seal the championship this coming weekend.
