Christian Horner admires Mark Webber after 2012 Monaco Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing team principal, Christian Horner has admired their driver Mark Webber who took an amazing victory in 2012 Monaco Grand Prix held at Circuit de Monaco on May 27.
Webber set off from pole position in the Monaco GP and maintained his lead after managing his tyres well in the challenging weather conditions.
Horner praised the performance of the Australian driver as he stayed ahead of Nico Rosberg of Mercedes and successfully won the race for the second time in Monte Carlo. Moreover, he expressed that he is very much delighted with the overall performance of
the team.
“We knew the threat of rain was always coming and then it started spitting,” he said. “I think the hardest position to be in is when you're leading a group - especially around Monaco - and it's starting to get slippy because everybody else can judge their
amount of grip by what you're doing. But Mark was in control and drove with great skill to close out the win. It bunched up at the end there but he never put a wheel wrong all afternoon, so first and fourth was a really fantastic team result; our third consecutive
victory in Monaco.”
It will be important to mention that there have been many speculations that Webber may leave Red Bull after this season when his contract will expire. However, Horner discharged all the rumours and said that Webber is performing well and is very comfortable
in the team so there is no reason that he will change his team.
Even though, the defending champions struggled with finding their true pace in the start of the season. Nonetheless, they have still been deemed as the front-runner. Besides, they are leading the constructors’ championship with 146 points and are 38 points
ahead of McLaren.
On the other hand, their pair of drivers, Webber and Sebastian Vettel, is standing at second place with 73 points behind the leading driver Fernando Alonso of Ferrari.
Above and beyond, they are trying their best to make the significant developments and the necessary preparations in order to improve the pace of their car for the forthcoming season so as to defend their championship title.
