Christian Horner aiming for stylish finish to 2011 Formula 1 season – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner has recently stated that he is aiming for a stylish finish to the 2011 Formula 1 season.
RBR driver Sebastian Vettel is already leading the championship by a huge margin.
Vettel is currently 124 points ahead of McLaren’s Jenson Button in the drivers’ standings and since there is just a maximum of 125 points up for the grabs in the remaining 5 races of the season, there is no way he can lose the drivers’ championship to anyone.
“There are only two drivers left now, and it is one point, but it is not over until it is done. We will go to Japan with exactly the same approach as we have done in every race this year, to do our best and ensure we do get that one point, but also go for
the race win as well,” said Horner.
RBR on the other hand are currently leading the constructors’ standings very comfortably as well and defeating them is not going to be possible for McLaren either since they do not have the performance or statistics to challenge the pace of the RB7.
Besides that, McLaren must rely on RBR’s mistakes which are quite unlikely to happen as Vettel has not retired out of a single race while his teammate Mark Webber retired out of just one race in the whole of the 2011 Formula 1 season so far.
Horner however wants to see Vettel finish the championship off in style and he wants him to score a good result at one of the tracks the team has been struggling on.
“It would be great to finish the job off in style at a track where Seb has thrived in recent years, and where the car has performed well. We have got ourselves into a great position and hopefully it will take care of itself,” he added.
The next race is going to be the most important race for RBR as they are expected to finally seal the championship in the current season.
