Christian Horner believes Sebastian Vettel getting stronger – Formula 1 News
Christian Horner has praised Sebastian Vettel, saying that he is getting stronger with the passage of time.
The Red Bull team principal said about his driver, “He is continuing to get stronger, continuing to get better. He is a very focused and determined young man, and has achieved a huge amount in his career. But the impressive thing about him is how much desire he has to continue to improve himself. He obviously wants to achieve as much as he can.”
Vettel managed to increase his championship lead by winning the Canadian GP comfortably. Despite that, Red Bull are not getting carried away with the positive results.
According to Horner, “We are just focusing on trying to get the maximum out of ourselves and the drivers at each individual event. While the points look healthy at the moment, Fernando [Alonso] put in another strong race and you cannot afford for any complacency.”
At the start of the 2013 Formula 1 season, everyone was expecting a close fight between the top teams. However, things have not turned out to be that way, as the reigning world champions are in a comfortable position at the moment, leading both the Drivers’ and Constructor’s Championships.
Looking at the statistics, one gets the impression that things have been one sided in the first seven rounds of the season. That is not the case though, as Ferrari and Lotus have been equally competitive in most of the races.
The former of the two teams have specially been looking dangerous since the very first race, but they have not enjoyed good luck at all. Despite that, Fernando Alonso has managed to stay in the hunt and he will be a major threat to Vettel in the coming European events.
Although the Spaniard is 36 points behind the leader at the moment, he has the car to bounce back strongly. Last year, he was leading the championship in the opening half of the season, but failed to maintain the advantage afterwards.
On the other hand, Kimi Raikkonen might also manage to cause a few problems for Vettel, but the former of the two has encountered some issues over the past couple of races, which have put him under immense pressure.
