Christian Horner calls Sebastian Vettel’s contract extension just a formality – Formula 1 News
Red Bull Racing team principal, Christian Horner, has said that their driver, Sebastian Vettel’s contract extension until the end of the 2015 Formula 1 season was
just a formality.
Vettel has recently extended his agreement with the Milton Keynes based squad for one more year and will stay with them until the end of 2015. Meanwhile, Horner
has said that they have a long-term plan to keep the veteran German driver in their team and are pleased to extend the agreement for another year.
“It was more of a formality than anything else,” Horner told Sporting Life. “We have a long-term agreement with Sebastian, and it was just perfect timing
for both sides to extend for another year.”
In addition, he expressed that their relationship with the triple world champion will hopefully go beyond 2015. He also said that the 25-year-old has been with
them for a long time and they are positively looking forward to stay together in the future.
“The details of the contract between the parties are always going to be confidential. The fact he has signed this extension shows his commitment to Red Bull, and
hopefully the relationship will go beyond 2015, which is already some way into the future. He's been part of the Red Bull family, since starting out as a junior, for more than 12 years now, so he's grown up with Red Bull,” he added.
The defending champion has achieved exceptional results with Red Bull in his F1 career so far. He claimed his third consecutive drivers’ championship in the last
season after a tough battle with Fernando Alonso of Ferrari.
Moreover, he has performed amazingly well in this season until now. At present, he is leading the drivers’ standings with 132 points and has a strong lead over
his major opponent, Alonso. He has already scored three wins and two podiums in the first seven races and is confidently eying to perform well in the forthcoming races.
It will be thrilling to see how he performs in the season ahead and whether he will be able to defend his title or not.
