Christian Horner committed to Red Bull Racing – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing team boss, Christian Horner has expressed in a British newspaper that he is committed to his own team and has ruled out switching to struggling Ferrari as a team manager.
There is no question that the Scarlet team is the oldest and the most triumphant team in F1. However, they had been facing immense difficulties since this year’s pre-season tests held at Jerez and Barcelona circuits.
Although, the Spaniard, Fernando Alonso was able to secure the fifth finish after starting from 12th position in the grid, at the first race last Sunday at Albert Park in Melbourne, Australia which proved out to be quite encouraging for the team. However,
their car F2012 is still not ready for the podium finish.
Conversely, Red Bull had won two consecutive championship titles in the last couple of seasons. Moreover, they completely dominated the last season with their driver, Sebastian Vettel who claimed 11 victories out of 19 races.
Nonetheless, the defending champions had also faced some issues due to the upgrades in RB8 during the last day of the final test and they could only complete 23 laps and remained last in the timesheets. However, despite the problems faced in the final test,
they had still been considered as the most favourite team for this year’s championship.
Moreover, they managed to end up well with second and fourth position with Vettel and his teammate, Mark Webber in the first GP.
Before the Horner’s refusal of switching to the Italian marquee, the team designer of Red Bull, Adrian Newey had also declined the option of moving there.
“Ferrari is a great team but my future is committed to Red Bull,” Horner is quoted by the Sun. “You can see what the appeal is at Ferrari but you can also see the pitfalls.”
“Dietrich Mateschitz gave me the chance as a 31-year-old to step into F1 and entrusted me to build a team for him,” the Briton was quoted by the Daily Mail. “I feel very much part of the team and I have no burning desire within me to go and work at Ferrari.
I am happy where I am. I have a multi-year commitment.”
