Christian Horner expects an unpredictable season ahead after Bahrain GP – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing team principal, Christian Horner expects an unpredictable season ahead after seeing four different winners with completely different car setups in the first four races in the year so far.
The defending championships bounced back in 2012 Bahrain Grand Prix held at Sakhir as the German driver, Sebastian Vettel took his first victory of the season. However, Horner said that their dominance in the races ahead cannot be guaranteed.
“I think this season is going to ebb and flow,” he said. “It is going to be about being consistent in races you can't win and taking the maximum out of them. And in the races that you can win you need to deliver. I am sure with this championship, with 16
races to go, we are going to see a lot more variation. And to predict the Bahrain performance just a week after what happened in China would have been tricky.”
In addition, he said that despite being struggling during the start of the season in the exploration of RB8’s true potential, they scored with consistency in all the races.
“We've consistently managed to be scoring points in the first four races,” said Horner.
Red Bull have won the last two championships in which they completely dominated during the preceding year as they took victories in 12 out of 19 Grands Prix. Furthermore, they are now ahead of all the contenders in the 2012 constructors’ championship with
101 points.
Besides, Horner said that they are looking forward to the in-season test which is to be held at Mugello in order to evaluate the performance of the car.
He also said that they need to keep on making the essential developments and the significant preparations so as to improve the car’s pace in the upcoming races.
It will be interesting to note that Vettel who seemed upset after the first three races is now leading the drivers’ championship with 53 points while his teammate, Mark Webber is at the third place in the drivers’ standing with his reasonably good performances
in the season until now.
