Christian Horner insists Red Bull Racing Team ‘not unbeatable’ – Formula 1 News
Recent reports have revealed that Formula 1 Red Bull Racing principal, Christian Horner, has insisted that his team is ‘not unbeatable’ in the 2011 year, as other strong teams are busy struggling to beat them in races.
Despite Sebastian Vettel’s dominating performance in the Turkish race, Horner added that no one can claim that Red Bull will be on top this season, because he found many teams in competitive form at the recent race weekend.
The team principal further added that it is too early to predict a season victory for his side, as there are many tough races, which have been scheduled on the 2011 year’s race calendar.
He discussed the Istanbul race and said, “The bottom line is that things can change so quickly. Fernando [Alonso] gave us a hard time in Turkey and nobody else seemed to be in the same ballpark. But two weeks or three weeks ago it was McLaren and then it looked like Mercedes had made a step.”
The former race car driver went on to add, "This was our 18th win in two and bit years, so we have come a long way and we are building on that experience. It is fantastic to be heading to Barcelona with a 43-point lead in the constructors' championship, and Sebastian is 34 points clear in the drivers'. That is fantastic.”
Ups and downs are part of every game and Horner said that Red Bull is just keeping their heads down and trying to learn and improve their ‘RB7’ car. Along with it, the team keeps trying to optimise their current condition.
Horner appreciated Vettel’s effort in the Turkey race, after delivering scintillating performances in Australia and Malaysia, respectively. He added that Vettel is the driver, who runs without any pressure in his race. Also, he has a good understanding how the different set of tyres work.
Red Bull was confident that now they are out of any Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS) issue. The team has made a step forward to success, as both their drivers had a trouble free drive this weekend.
Horner admitted that the Turkish race upgrades gave upbeat results to the team, as the new programme always bring some changes in the car’s running.
