Christian Horner praises Mark Webber’s performance in the season so far – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing team principal, Christian Horner has praised their driver, Mark Webber who has delivered an impressive performance in the season so far.
Webber is presently standing at second position in the drivers’ championship with 116 points. Moreover, he has a lead of 16 points over his teammate, Sebastian Vettel and is 13 points behind Fernando Alonso of Ferrari who is at the top of drivers’ rankings
right now.
Besides, he has been one of the most consistent performers in the season until now as he has secured five fourth place finishes and two race victories.
It will be important to mention that the Australian driver face few difficulties during the last season, however, he has shown an amazing performance in the current season.
Furthermore, Horner said that they are very much pleased with the Aussie and expressed that he is in a very good form to fight for this year’s championship title.
“I think 2011 was a very tough year for Mark but, all credit to him, he has gone away, reflected on that season and come back and got himself in great shape,” he said. “I think he is very comfortable in his approach and in his mind.”
In addition, he said that Webber is surely one of the strongest contenders in this season while he said that they are aiming to perform well in the forthcoming races.
“Possibly some of the regulation changes have helped as well, but he is very much a championship contender. We are in a fortunate position where we have both of our drivers as genuine championship contenders.”
Even though, the defending champions struggled during the start of the season with finding the true potential of RB8, however, they have still been deemed as one of the most favourite contenders in this season’s championship battle.
It has been very hard to make any kind of predictions about the forthcoming season as there were seven different winners in the first seven races.
Nonetheless, it seems like the dust is settling down now as Alonso and Webber have scored two race victories each and it will be quite interesting to see what the season ahead brings for all the teams.
