Christian Horner praises Sebastian Vettel, Mark Webber for a fantastic season – Formula 1 news
Christian Horner has praised both of the Red Bull drivers after the team sealed off a perfect season with a perfect one-two for the team.
“Mark's had a tough year but he's kept his head down, he's kept working hard at it and he has been competitive all year here. He wanted to finish the year on a high. It's a great race to win the final race of the year and he's been up against a team-mate
in the form of his life. Sebastian is an awesome competitor. But it's been an unbelievable year for the team for all the guys and girls in Milton Keynes, without their hard work and dedication none of this would have been possible,” he said.
Horner while talking to BBC admitted that he was highly impressed by the German’s ability to manoeuvre the car with a faulty gearbox and still be able to finish second, but mentioned that credit should be given to Mark Webber for a fantastic win.
Webber ended his season long drought with a win at the season finale Brazilian Grand Prix. Webber just before the race had mentioned how badly he wanted to win at Interlagos, and that he really wanted to end the season with a victory.
Vettel also praised Webber’s win, and mentioned that he drove well enough to deserve the win, although the current champion had conceded the lead to Webber on lap 29 of the race, and kept with him placed second throughout the race. Still the German wanted
nothing to be taken away from the effort Webber put in to win his first Grand Prix of the last race of the 2011 season.
Even though Vettel has been dominating since 2010, Horner is predicting an even sterner competition between the teammates for the 2012 season which can only mean good things for the Red Bull team. They have been able to record back-to-back constructor victories
with the help of the drivers and hope to make it three next season.
