Christian Horner ready for clarification over engine map investigation – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing team principal, Christian Horner has said that he is ready to give the necessary clarification over the issue of their engine map investigation which was raised before the German GP.
FIA technical delegate, Jo Bauer said that the torque maps of the Red Bull’s cars were not in accordance with the technical rules and reported the matter to the stewards ahead of the race in Hockenheim. Resultantly, the participation of the defending champions
in the last race was put in question over the legality of their engine.
Even though, the stewards took no action against Red Bull prior to the preceding race. However, they have asserted that they are not fully satisfied with the explanation of the Milton Keynes based team and a meeting of the Technical Working Group has been
called on Monday which will ask Horner to provide the essentials of the underlying issue.
Nevertheless, the Briton has said that he is prepared to give the required clarification over the matter and is looking forward for the meeting ahead.
“I'm sure there's going to be debate about it,” Horner said. “Conveniently, there's a Technical Working Group meeting tomorrow and I'm sure this will no doubt go on to the agenda. But the regulations are clear, so there could well be further technical directives
that are designed to further clarify those regulations.”
In addition, he said that they are confident about the legality of their cars’ engine. Nonetheless, he said that they will still come up with the needed amplification in the meeting.
“There's no clause in the regulations that refers to the spirit of the regulations,” he added. “I think that the regulations are fairly straight forward and it's either in or out and it can't be a little bit in or a little bit out.”
Presently, Red Bull are leading the constructors’ championship with 230 points and are ahead of their main rival, Ferrari. Furthermore, they are indisputably one of the most competitive contenders in this championship battle and it will be extremely thrilling
to see how they show up in the season ahead.
