Christian Horner says Red Bull have made progress – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing team principal, Christian Horner is feeling confident that they have made progress in the three-day in-season test held at Mugello circuit this week.
The defending champions have been facing difficulties in finding the true potential of RB8. Nevertheless, their first GP victory came in the fourth race held at Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir as their driver, Sebastian Vettel won the race after
securing the pole.
In addition, they have been making the essential evaluation regarding the updates in the car at Mugello test so as to improve its performance in 2012 Spanish Grand Prix. Meanwhile, Horner expressed that they have become stronger after the test. Nonetheless,
he also said that the competition is very tough amongst the contenders on top as there have been four different winners in the first four races of the season who drove on entirely different car setups.
“I think it's tremendously tight,” Horner told Sky Sports News. “The first four races have had four different winners from four different teams and that's demonstrated how close this season's Formula One is. Bahrain was obviously a strong race for us and
we feel we've made some progress with the car and hopefully we can take a few lessons from here and apply them in Barcelona in a couple of weeks.”
The two-time world champion, Vettel set the second best time of 1 minute and 21.267 seconds in the test and covered 106 laps. Furthermore, he followed Romain Grosjean of Lotus and stayed ahead of the Spaniard Fernando Alonso of Ferrari.
Even though, Red Bull faced difficulties on the last day of the final pre-season test held at Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona due to the upgrades in the car and struggled to take a strong start this year. However, at present, they seem to be quite positive
and well prepared for the races ahead.
Besides, it will be important to mention that the double world champions are not as confident in this season as they were in the preceding year. Nonetheless, they are making the significant developments to improve their car’s pace in the approaching races.
