Christian Horner says Red Bull will out-develop McLaren again in Malaysia – Formula 1
Red Bull team owner, Christian Horner, has replied to Lewis Hamilton’s remarks and stated that they will out class the McLaren team in Malaysia, just like they did in Australia. Horner also showed concern about the Ferrari team but said that they will defend both their titles successfully.
Lewis Hamilton of McLaren said that the Austrian based drinks company, Red Bull, will be outrun by his team in the next race. Hamilton’s car was damaged halfway through the race which gave Sebastian Vettel open ground to drive home safely. There was a gap of almost 22 seconds between the two drivers. Talking about this, Horner said, “I don't think we can expect another 18 races like we saw (in Australia).” Horner also talked about the much feared Ferrari, who didn’t secure a podium in the opening race because Alonso was kept back by Renault’s Vitaly Petrov, and stated that, “You know that Ferrari will come back strong.”
Horner was confident of the team’s performance and hoped that Red Bull’s winning streak will continue. Talking about McLaren, Horner said that, “We out-developed them last year, we did it the year before, and we will be determined to try and do it again this year.”
Although McLaren didn’t have a good 2011 pre-season testing session in Spain, they have came back strongly to challenge the Red Bull team. There seemed to be no other real competitor behind Vettel, who took the lead in the first lap and then kept it all the way to the chequered flag.
Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso was able to keep Mark Webber behind him but Vettel was just untouchable at the top of the grid. The Mercedes duo, Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg, were unable to give the reigning champion a real fight as both were out of the race in the first part of the game.
The next race scheduled in Malaysia will start in less than two weeks and along with McLaren, Ferrari and Mercedes will also try to be competitive despite their performances.
