Christian Horner says Sebastian Vettel has not signed any contract with Ferrari – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing team principal, Christian Horner has said that their veteran driver Sebastian Vettel has not signed any contract with Ferrari for 2014.
There have been many speculations that the two-time world champion may join the Scarlet team after the next season. However, Horner discharged all the rumours and asserted that their star driver is not going anywhere and he has not signed any agreement.
“I have spoken with Sebastian about it and he's made it quite clear that he hasn't had any dialogue and hasn't signed anything with Ferrari,” Horner said. “The rumour mill always will continue.”
In addition, he said that they have always been associated with Ferrari but they are not paying attention to such reports. Moreover, he said that Vettel will remain with Red Bull for the next two years as they have developed a very good relationship with
each other.
“I think most of our team has been going to Ferrari at some point this year, whether it be Adrian, Mark, Sebastian, even myself at one stage was supposed to be going. Sebastian is very comfortable in team, team is very comfortable with Sebastian. He's been
with Red Bull for over 12 years now and I think he will be us for quite few years to come,” he said.
It will be important to mention that Vettel also expressed that he is very much pleased with his current team and can’t even imagine leaving it at this point in time.
The defending champions are presently leading the constructors’ championship with 176 points and are 39 points ahead of their main rival, McLaren.
Meanwhile, Vettel is currently standing at fourth place in the drivers’ rankings with 85 points. Besides, he is just 3 points behind Lewis Hamilton and 10 points ahead of Nico Rosberg of Mercedes.
He showed a striking performance in the European GP held at Valencia Street Circuit in Spain after claiming the pole position. Unfortunately, he could not pocket even a single point even with a lead of 20 seconds as his alternator failed and he was retired.
Nonetheless, he is confidently looking forward to perform well in the British GP which is to be held at Silverstone Circuit on July 8.
