Christian Horner says careless driving of Romain Grosjean is dangerous for drivers – Formula 1 news
Team principal of Red Bull Racing believes Romain Grosjean of Lotus should be controlled over the circuit as he has been involved in a lot of accidents which is dangerous not only for him but for all drivers.
He said that careless driving is unacceptable for the veteran driver.
Horner passed his comments after Grosjean was once again the main reason of incident over the Suzuka circuit. His carelessness resulted in retiring Fernando Alonso of Ferrari from the race and spun the car of Mark Webber over the circuit. Webber was only
able to finish the race at the 9th position.
The Red Bull team principal believes that Lotus should do something to control the veteran driver as such mistakes over the circuit at this level are unacceptable and are dangerous not only for him but for other drivers as well.
He said, “Hopefully he'll have a good look in the mirror after this incident or his team need to get him a bit more under control. He's capable of doing it; he's obviously a quick driver, but so many incidents is unacceptable at this level.”
He backed the comments of Mark Webber and believes that Webber has all the rights to pass comments like that because he suffered in race due to the careless driving of the Lotus driver.
The Red Bull principal believes that Grosjean has not learned anything from one race ban penalised by steward after his mistake at Spa. He added that this is the most troublesome situation that the Lotus driver is not learning from his mistakes.
“The most important thing when you make a mistake is to learn from it and I think the most disappointing thing is that it's a repeat incident and proved extremely costly for Mark as it did Hamilton and Alonso in Spa and numerous other victims earlier in
the year,” he added.
Grosjean apologised Alonso after his mistake at Spa but his mistake at Suzuka was way more devastating for the championship leader as it deprived him of precious points thus decreasing his lead over competitors. The gap between the championship leader and
runner-up in the title contention only remains to 4 points.
Let’s see how the championship ends in the current season as there are 5 grands prix yet to go.
