Christian Horner says he is not disheartened by RBR form in Hungarian Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing boss Christian Horner has said that he is not really disappointed with the team’s results in the 2011 Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix held on Sunday, July 31 in Budapest.
Horner also mentioned that the team must be back to their winning ways at the Belgian Grand Prix after the summer break following the Hungarian race weekend.
The team boss discussed the Budapest race and added that although, Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettel was unable to achieve a race victory in Hungary, he scored decent points for the team in difficult conditions and that was really impressive for them.
Both RBR drivers, Vettel and Mark Webber started their Budapest race with hopes of winning the grand prix. However, McLaren driver Jenson Button was faster as compared to them and finally he beat both of them and finished his race at the top spot at the
Hungaroring race circuit.
Talking to reporters, Horner said, “We thought we were looking in good shape. We elected to go down a different strategic route to go onto the prime tyre and then it rained for probably two or three laps. The slick was the wrong tyre to be on, and 50 per
cent of the grid came in for an intermediate.”
He added, “I think that at different stages of the race, the McLaren was quick and we were quick. We are in the heart of the development push now and we learned a lot of lessons in the last two weekends that stand us in good stead for the upcoming races.”
The RBR boss praised the performance of Vettel in the 2011 Formula 1 season so far. He stated that it has been a very mature performance from the German in the ongoing season. Horner added that Vettel is a very talented driver and that he wants to win races
in his Formula 1 career.
Apart from that, he said that Ferrari and McLaren are in a very strong form at the moment, so his team will have to focus on winning races in the second part of the ongoing season.
Let’s see how Red Bull perform on the grid after the summer break.
