Christian Horner sees F1 mania rising in the 2011 season
The Red Bull Racing boss, Christian Horner, believes that Formula One is currently going through the healthiest period, in the 60 years’ history of the sport.
Horner currently stands as the youngest team principal on the grid, and has undoubtedly a great trail of success behind him. After having grabbed a lot of accomplishments in his brief career, the former British driver, this year made his team bag both the
drivers’ as well as the constructors’ championship. The team has covered the long journey from being the so called ‘group of young non-serious lads to the reigning world champions’ in just a period of six years.
While looking back at the events of the 2010 season, one can safely call it the most exciting and thrilling season for the race fans as well as for FIA. While on the other hand, for the drivers and the teams, undoubtedly, 2010 has unfolded as one of the
toughest, and extremely demanding and challenging season. However, Horner believes that this has given a new life and appeal to the sport, as he hopes to see quite a similar season next year as well.
Despite of having the fastest car on the track, the Red Bull drivers, Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber, kept pushing hard at one after the other rounds, while the team kept working day and night at the factory. The intense battle continued between the three
teams, Red Bull, Ferrari and McLaren all through the season as the top five drivers, kept back lashing each other at the merciless arenas until the very last round of the season.
While talking about the current drivers and the teams, the 37-year-old team boss said, "It's a halcyon period for Formula One with the quality of drivers and the strength and depth there is in the sport at the moment and to have four drivers going to the
last grand prix still in with a shout of winning the championship was phenomenal and I think that will continue into 2011."
Moreover, while answering one of the questions, Horner explained that he does not want to condemn any team for their team strategies. He continued saying that Ferrari or any other team’s ‘team ordering’ does not change his way of thinking. He believes, "It
comes down to your philosophy of going racing. We chose to give both our drivers absolute equality and a fair chance at it and it's not to say one approach is wrong and the other is right it's just the way we decided to approach the championship and ultimately
the guy that's done the best job over the course of the season has come out on top and I'm just delighted that it was a Red Bull driver and Sebastian Vettel.”
