Christian Horner thinks Sebastian Vettel can perform even better – Formula 1 news
Red Bull’s team principal, Christian Horner, thinks that Sebastian Vettel can perform even better as he became the youngest triple champion last weekend.
“He has had a remarkably impressive career so far,” said Horner. “As a driver, he will continue to get better and I think we have yet to see the best of him.”
Vettel has been compared to legendary Michael Schumacher many times and his latest achievement has put him closer to breaking his record.
“What Michael achieved was quite remarkable,” he said. “It's difficult to see any driver beating his 91 wins and seven World Championships. Sebastian is 25 years; he has won 3 World Championships, secured 26 wins out of 101 races and scored more than 40
podiums. So it's difficult to tell Formula 1 is different to what it was 15 years ago, it's much more of a level playing field.”
Horner said that the competition will become harder for Vettel during the next season as Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso, Lewis Hamilton, who has moved to Mercedes, and McLaren’s Jenson Button Alonso will all be potential threats against him.
Following the team’s success in both the drivers’ and constructors’ championship for the third consecutive time this season, Horner said that Red Bull Racing has announced a bonus for each member of the team, not even excluding the postman, for their continuous
hard work. He joked that it might have been cheaper for them if they had finished second.
On the other hand, Vettel said that after each win the focus on you increases which also doubles the pressure. He told that it is becoming harder and harder to win each year.
In 2010, Vettel had won his first F1 championship against Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso in a tough battle that ended in the final race. The fight was again between Vettel and Alonso this season which also carried on right into the last race in Brazil. The Red
Bull driver had an advantage of thirteen points over Alonso at the start of the race and he defeated him by three points despite being in sixth place far behind Alonso’s second.
