Christian Horner vows to treat both Red Bull drivers equally

The Red Bull team boss, Christian Horner once again assures all the race lovers that no favouritism will be seen in team.
The team boss is adamant to treat both the drivers equally as the season takes its final twists and turns, with only three more races to go before the 2010 World Champion will be announced. This part of the season always becomes
very critical and crucial for Formula One teams as they decide their final strategies.
The team driver, Mark Webber leads the Drivers’ Championship currently, and has bagged four race wins and 220 points all together. On the other hand, his teammate Sebastian Vettel stands at third place in the tally with 206 points
bagging three victories in the 2010 season so far. The two Red Bull drivers sandwich Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso between them who stands at 2nd place with points equal to Vettel’s and 14 less than the charts’ topper. Whereas the two McLaren drivers,
Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button, the title defender, follow for fourth and fifth places with their 192 and 189 points respectively.
The current situation of the championship is very critical with 75 more points to fight for and a difference of only 31 among the top five drivers. A single race win by any of the forerunners now can turn the tables completely.

In such a situation, when the chances of winning by both the Red Bull drivers are just the same, the team has proclaimed once again that they will not be carrying any team orders as both their drivers will be treated equally by
the management.
The issue of favouritism caused ripples in the team earlier this season as well, at the British Grand Prix. Webber was deprived of his new front wing which was handed to Vettel, hence offending the Australian immensely. The angry
driver flew through the Silverstone track fiercely only to stop at the chequered flag bagging his third victory of the season.  As the annoyed racer stood at the top of the podium he angrily pointed out the team saying, “Not bad for a No. 2 driver.”
However, the team was quick to clear the air among them saying that this was only done because Vettel stood at a better place in the Drivers’ Championship and such a favour will be given to Webber as well when required. But since
that incident the team has refrained from any similar strategies.
Now, as the season enters the most crucial part, Horner stated yesterday, “It’s not correct, as we’ve always said, for us to favour one driver. The team will support both as equally as we can. We will give both drivers as good
a chance as we can to win it.”
Although the team has declared not to support any of the drivers, yet the rivalry among the Red Bull drivers is still something to watch closely in the rest of the races. The two drivers now stand head to head being just 14 points
apart and posing a great threat to each other. Their rivalry has earlier been witnessed at the Turkish Grand Prix as well where the twosome crashed into each other in a chase for victory while the twosome were leading the race for a 1-2 finish for the team.
The crash benefitted McLaren brilliantly as their 1-2 finish bounced in the British team’s lap. Following the collision Vettel had to retire while Webber lost his top place and settled for third.
Moreover, McLaren has also announced time and again that they will not favour any of the drivers either and will run the next three races with complete fairness and support for both its drivers.
