Christian John Skovgaard and Mads Pieler Kolding win Men’s Doubles title at Denmark International
Denmark’s talented shuttlers Christian John Skovgaard and Mads Pieler Kolding lived up to expectations when they won the Men’s Doubles title at the home event of Forza Denmark International 2012 on Saturday, May 5, in Denmark.
In the final showdown, Skovgaard and Kolding did not spend much time in the court and thrashed their lower ranked compatriots Kasper Antonsen and Rasmus Bonde in an impressive fashion.
Skovgaard and Kolding, who were second seeds in Men’s Doubles main draw of Denmark International, were impressive on the final day when they did not spare any chance for their team-mates and claimed the crown.
The higher ranked Skovgaard and Kolding were on a different level when they put up superb show in the title match and ended it in straight games with a comprehensive score on the board.
On the other hand, Kasper and Rasmus completely failed to compete against their rivals in any aspect of the game and lost the final match without showing any considerable performance.
Skovgaard and Kolding started the opening game in a positive fashion and they kept the pace of rallies at the highest level.
The higher ranked Danish shuttlers were slightly ahead of their lower ranked country-mates until the one-minute break by reaching at 11-9.
After the break, Kasper and Rasmus played aggressive badminton and levelled the score at 11-11.
Both pairs continued playing attacking and positive badminton and reached at 15-15 when Skovgaard and Kolding took over the control and score remaining points to take the set with a 21-17 score on the board.
In the second set, Skovgaard and Kolding were everywhere in the court as they played flawless game.
Until the mid-game break in the opening set, Skovgaard and Kolding were far ahead of their lower ranked opponent by reaching at 11-3.
After the break, Kasper and Rasmus changed their game but failed to reduce the huge gap created by their higher ranked challengers.
The second seeds were in full control of rallies and they won the second set easily with a good margin of 21-10.
Skovgaard and Kolding won the title by ending the title match in just 28 minutes with a 21-17 and 21-10 score on the board.
