Christian Lind Thomsen finds tremendous start at US Open GPG 2013 – Badminton news
Denmark’s talented player, Christian Lind Thomsen, started his journey in Men’s Singles category in a tremendous fashion as he easily won the first round clash against Peru’s Andres Corpancho at Yonex OCBC US Open GPG 2013, in USA, on Monday, July 8.
The impressive Thomsen, who is un-seeded player in the main draw of this Grand Prix Gold tournament, displayed his skills in an effective manner and easily outplayed his challenger while taking only 26 minutes.
Danish man was much better in all departments of the game and he easily maintained his upper hand over his rival all the way. He sailed smoothly throughout this opening round clash and wrapped up a comprehensive victory in straight games with a stunning
21-11 and 21-7 score on the board.
Meanwhile, Andres could not impress the crowd as he failed to produce better form. He continued committing many unforced errors and eventually crashed out without putting up strong show at any stage.
Thomsen found a favourable draw and playing against Andres proved to be a good practice for him. He tested his shots without any pressure and played all of his strokes in a relaxed manner. He took over the control from the starting points of the match and
set up a wonderful gap until the break.
After the one-minute interval in the first set, the in-form Thomsen continued punishing his rival by playing flawless game. He did not miss any chance to execute powerful smashes in the gaps and remained successful in winning the opening set with a crushing
21-11 score on the board.
In the following set, Andres put up a meagre resistance as he played slightly better badminton for the first few rallies. However, he failed to maintain the speed of rallies and started to commit mistakes again.
On the other hand, Thomsen stayed on track without taking any pressure and he took a comfortable lead on the board until the mid-game break.
In the ending half, Danish man easily continued his roller-coaster run on court and grabbed the second game with a lopsided margin of 21-7 and won the match in a remarkable manner.
