The Azzurri wing-back reflects on a successful 2011, and looking forward to UEFA Champions League clash against Chelsea
Napoli wing-back, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Christian-Maggio-c9098, has reflected on a successful 2011, and has urged his team to continue the same form in 2012.
Despite a topsy-turvy league campaign thus far, Maggio is extremely content with his team’s performances in the current year.
While talking to the reporters, Maggio said, “Let’s hope that Napoli can continue to surprise next year. We’ve had a positive season so far and we want that to carry on.”

However, their UEFA Champions League form has been extremely impressive, and they have qualified for the last 16 round of the competition ahead of Manchester City. Walter Mazzarri’s men will face former Premier League Champions,
Chelsea, in the first knockout round.
Maggio admitted that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 are one of the strongest teams in the game right now, but his side is ready to take on any team in the world. The 29-year-old believes that despite being underdogs for the contest, his side is not scared
of the Blues, and is confident of progressing to the quarter-finals of the competition.
“We’ll do all that we can to get through. Chelsea are certainly a strong side, but we are not scared. We are ready to take on any opponent.”
The former Sampdoria star is looking to extend his stay at the Stadio San Paolo, and is expected to sign an extension in the near future. The defender admitted to his early struggles at the club, but insisted that he is completely
happy now.
“I hope to stay here for as long as possible. I initially struggled to adapt, but this is my home now after four years of being here.”
Maggio joined Napoli from Sampdoria in 2008, and has gone onto make 104 appearances for the club thus far. He has also scored 15 goals thus far.
