The Partenopei chief has hailed his team’s performances in the UEFA Champions League and believes that the lack of experience was a result of their downfall.
Napoli manager, Walter Mazzarri, is ruing Christian Maggio’s injury in the second-leg, and believes that it changed the course of the match.
The Partenopei side squandered a 3-1 advantage from the first-leg, as they lost 4-1 at Stamford Bridge to crash out of Europe on 5-4 aggregate score.

started to go bad for his team after the wingback’s departure.
Mazzarri also rued his team’s defending on the set plays, and admits that his team was outclassed in the air.
The former Sampdoria boss believes that his team’s inexperience counted for their defeat, as Chelsea took advantage of their weaknesses.
While talking to the reporters, Mazzarri said:
“It is a shame to go out like this. In terms of sheer performance, we created three or four scoring opportunities when it was still goalless. From Maggio’s injury onwards, we realised things were taking a turn for the worse. They
did better than us on set plays. We couldn’t do any more than attempt man-marking, as they were physically much stronger in the air.”

Despite being knocked out of the competition, Mazzarri is proud of his team’s efforts and insists that he could not have asked for more from his side. The 50-year-old revealed that he tried to boost his players after the defeat,

The Partenopei side will now shift their focus on winning the Coppa Italia, and finishing amongst the top-three in the league. The Azzurri are currently placed 4th in the Serie A standings, two points adrift of third-placed,
