The Bayern Munich sporting director admits that it would be difficult to win the title after the Reds failed to secure three points against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/SC-Freiburg-c40462.
Christian Nerlinger reckons that that the Bavarian giants will be lucky if they go on to win this season’s Bundesliga. He was talking in the wake of Bayern Munich’s stalemate against Freiburg on Saturday.
Both teams locked heads on February 18 at the badenova-Stadion with the hosts holding Bayern to a 0-0 draw. As a result of this draw, the visitors have slipped to third on the Bundesliga standings table and are now four points
adrift of Borussia Dortmund.
The former midfielder believes that Bayern will soon need to get things back on track if they are to stay in the title race. He opined that the Bundesliga journey will be extremely difficult for his side from this point onwards
as both Borussia Monchengladbach and Dortmund look to be in sensational form.
Both teams went on to win their respective games against Kaiserslautern and Hertha http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Berlin-c7536 whereas Bayern dropped points again.
While talking to reporters after the game, the 38-year-old further added: "Of course, the championship is not lost, but it is no longer in our hands."
Nerlinger also complained about the lack of intensity in Bayern’s ranks. He stated that there were a few players who were not at their best which probably kept Bayern away from the important three points.
The former German international admitted that the Bavarians were complacent against Freiburg and urged the Reds to respect every opponent in the future.
"This match was a big mystery to me - especially the first half, it made me very pensive. It seemed as if some of our players have not understood what is at stake. There were basic team elements such as aggression, a positive attitude
and a willingness to win which were missing," Nerlinger concluded.
Bayern are third on the standings with 45 points and will face a tough test against Schalke at Allianz Arena next week. The Munich giants cannot afford any more slip-ups in the remaining course of the season as Borussia Dortmund
have a healthy lead at the top.
