The Bayern Munich sporting director is confident that his side will emerge triumphant in the game against Borussia Dortmund this weekend.
The Bavarian giants will face their fierce rivals Borussia Dortmund in the final of the DFB-Pokal on Saturday, Mat 12. The two sides have already met two times earlier this season and the Borussians have won both the fixtures.
Nerlinger insisted that the players are determined to perform and want to win the competition. He insisted that there is still disappointment among the team for losing out on the Bundesliga title this season and the players want
to avenge their defeat in the league by winning the DFB-Pokal.
The chief added that Bayern have already shown this season of what they are capable of as they are coming from an emphatic win against Borussia Monchengladbach in the semi-final. The side progressed to the final after winning against
the Foals on penalties and are being touted as the favourites for the clash.
“The players are very aware of what's at stake. And they also know they've already overcome tough challenges in the cup run this season, away to Gladbach and to Stuttgart for example. I feel they’re totally focused and extremely
motivated for the final. They’re all fired up,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
On the other hand, the former Bavarian urged his side to be calm in the game and wants the players to forget about Bayern’s recent record against the German champions. He admitted that the players need to be focussed as Dortmund
have been in some brilliant form of late and will be dangerous when attacking.
“There's always a lot of emotion surrounding a final like this, so we'll need to keep our cool. Dortmund are well organised and you only ever get a few chances against them. We'll have to wait patiently for these chances,” he concluded.
