The Bayern Munich general manager has reiterated his desire to beat Dortmund to enhance chances of winning this season’s Bundesliga.
Bayern Munich general manager, Christian Nerlinger, is confident that his side could upstage Borussia Dortmund and win the Bundesliga. He was talking in the wake of his side’s 2-1 win over FC Augsburg on Saturday, April 7, at the
Allianz Arena. Mario Gomez netted both goals for his side to ensure Bayern their ninth win in as many games in all competitions.
Nerlinger claimed that Bayern would be hard to beat especially with their recent form in the Bundesliga. He stated that the Reds are eager to visit the Westfalenstadion on Wednesday, April 11, in what is anticipated to be a title
decider. A win in all of their remaining games will certainly allow Bayern to finish on top of the summit and snatch the crown from the Borussians.
The Reds’ manager, Jupp Heynckes, also expressed his confidence in his players and encouraged them to maintain their winning streak against their fiercest title rivals. He reserved praise for this season’s Bundesliga top goal scorer
Mario Gomez, whose outstanding form has allowed Bayern back into the title contention.
Heynckes mused that his side is oozing with confidence and their last nine wins in succession makes them favourites against the reigning German champions. While talking during the post-match press conference, the tactician further
added: "Nine wins in all competitions. That run makes us feel confident and optimistic. We will travel to Dortmund with our heads held high."
Bayern also find themselves in the final of the German Cup where they will take on the Black Yellows on May 12 and also in the semi-final of the UEFA Champions League where they have a date set with Real Madrid.
The Munich giants are currently second in the Bundesliga with 63 points, three short of the Signal Iduna Park outfit. Their next league fixture against Dortmund holds massive importance for both sides before they host Los Blancos
in the first-leg of their last-four tie on April 17, at the Allianz Arena.
