The Bayern Munich director of sport is satisfied with the side’s current form and wants consistency in the results.
The Bavarian giants got the better of Die Knappen in the Bundesliga this Sunday when they emerged victorious with a 2-0 score-line from Allianz Arena. Franck Ribery scored a brace in the fixture as the hosts took all three points
to climb to second place on the standings table.
Nerlinger insisted that Bayern have comeback strongly after suffering a shock loss in the first-leg of the UEFA Champions League knock-out stage fixture against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Basel-c39079 last week. He admitted that a win against Schalke was crucial
in the side’s chances for the title at the end of the season.
The director of sport added that the team are currently on the right track and have definitely returned to winning ways. He admitted that the Bavarians can go a long way if they continue playing the way they did against Die Knappen.
“It's a first step in the right direction. We were in a troubled situation but our fighting spirit and our football were totally convincing today. The games against Freiburg and Basel have made the team rediscover the right routines.
They've pulled themselves together, and come together too,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
Christian Nerlinger stressed on the importance of consistency in the remainder of the season and admitted that the players will have to perform out of their skins to catch Borussia Dortmund for the league title.
The chief hailed that side’s attitude after a rather disappointing start to the second-half of the campaign and is confident that Bayern will achieve a lot of success this season.
“We need to maintain this stability for the rest of the season. We need exactly this attitude, and if so, we'll hit our targets. I'm sure of that,” he concluded.
The Munich based outfit will next take on Robin Dutt’s Bayer Leverkusen at the BayArena on Saturday, March 3. Jupp Heynckes’ side will be in search of their 16th league win of the ongoing season in order to remain on
the heels of reigning champions and Bundesliga leaders, Borussia Dortmund.
