The former Bayern Munich midfielder has insisted that Bayern Munich are favourites to win the Bundesliga following the club’s 1-0 triumph over Nuremberg at the weekend.
Bayern Munich sporting director, Christian Nerlinger, has revealed that the Reds could certainly claim this season’s crown after closing the gap on Borussia Dortmund. He was talking in the wake of Bayern’s 1-0 win over Die Legende
on Saturday, March 31, at the easyCredit-Stadion.
Nerlinger stated that Bayern find themselves in a position from where they cannot lose the league should they go on and win their remaining six games. He admitted that the Reds have been in sublime form of late and insisted that
the Bavarians are certainly the favourites to upstage the Borussians from the top spot.
With Borussia Dortmund dropping two points at home to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/VfB-Stuttgart-c40879 on Friday, March 30, the Reds are now just three points behind the reigning German champions. Both Dortmund and Bayern will play each other on April 11 in the
Bundesliga which could possibly decide the title.
The sporting director mused that the Munich giants must continue the winning momentum in the remaining league games to claim the title. He specified that if Bayern could beat the Borussians then they will also win the league on
a superior goal difference.
While talking to sportinglife.com, Nerlinger further added:
"To summarise this weekend, we can say that it is now ours to be lost, and that applies to all the competitions we are in. I have faith in this side. They are showing that they are able to play every three days and still be in
peak condition. I am really looking forward to the run-in."
Bayern will next be in action against Olympique Marseille in the second-leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final tie on Tuesday, April 3, at the Allianz Arena. Jupp Heynckes’ side are leading the French outfit 2-0 after
their first-leg win at the Stade Velodrome.
The Reds will return to the league action against FC Augsburg on Saturday, April 7, before taking on Dortmund in one of their biggest games of the season on Wednesday, April 11.
