Christian Poulsen admits Liverpool is in crisis
In a recent media interview, Liverpool midfielder Christian Poulsen has admitted the club is in turmoil. The comments come in the wake of Liverpool’s worst start to the league in 54 years. Liverpool FC is currently in a financial dire straits and the club
is set to be sold to New England Sports Ventures (NESV); owners of MLB outfit Boston Red Sox.
Liverpool has made a horrendous start to the season with just one victory from their opening seven matches. The club currently stands 19th in the league. The club has failed to register a victory in their last five matches in all competitions
and lost to newly promoted Blackpool at Anfield on match day seven. In wake of recent events, former Liverpool greats have voiced their concern over a forced transfer of Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres. The duo might look to leave if the Anfield based club
fails to finish with a European spot.
Poulsen believes the defeat at the hands of Blackpool was too much, “Everyone is talking about the crisis at Liverpool and after the defeat to Blackpool, it’s really hard arguing against that. Liverpool is a big club and we should be winning against the
likes of Blackpool and Sunderland especially at home”
Poulsen was signed earlier this summer from Juventus FC for a reported fee of 5 million Euros. The Danish midfield destroyer failed to make an impact with the Bianconeri following his mover from Sevilla FC and many pundits have criticised his signing.
Poulsen was signed as a direct replacement to outgoing Javier Mascherano but it remains to be seen if the influence of the Argentine can be replicated by the ageing Poulsen. The midfielder for his part remains optimistic about his future at the club. Poulsen
however insists the club needs to find the answers and soon too, “everything happens on such a large scale that you can tell how great a club this is. Even an away draw is seen as a defeat here. However, I agree the results have been disappointing and we must
come up with an explanation real soon”
