Christian Poulsen staying at Anfield according to agent
Christian Poulsen's agent has confirmed that the former Juventus star will stay at Liverpool despite restricted first team opportunities.
Poulsen has made only seven appearances for the club during the 2010/11 season and has been criticised by some sections of the media and the club's support base.
"I do not comment on speculation.
Christian is happy to be in Liverpool," Poulsen's agent Jorn Bonnesen told Bold.dk.
For some reason Poulsen doesn't seem to be a well liked player at Liverpool. His substitution in the Europa League game against Napoli Soccer was cheered by some sections
of the Liverpool faithful.
Rumours have already started to circulate within the British press that a number of other European clubs could be set to oust Poulsen from Anfield in January.
Ironically Juventus is one of the club's linked with their former player along with Spanish club Sevilla. Poulsen has also played for Sevilla previously in his career and
is rumoured to favour a move back to the warmer climate of Spain.
"He is not one that sticks his tail between his legs and runs away.
He is a type that will fight for his place and prove his worth," added Bonnesen.
The fact is that Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson brought Poulsen to the club for a very specific role in the side. He is viewed as a long-term successor to Javier Mascherano,
who left Liverpool for Barcelona.
Therefore it might be naive on the part of the club's admirers to expect Poulsen to play in a flamboyant and creative way. He's at his best when he's getting stuck into
the opposition and playing ugly to try and win the ball back, which means the fans' derision might have more to do with a lack of understanding of his role on the team's roster.
