Christian Sprenger pockets Men’s 50m breast-stroke title: 2011 FINA World Cup, Singapore
Commonwealth gold medallists, Christian Sprenger and Blair Evans of Australia gave their impressive performances at the seven stop 2011 FINA World Cup series in Singapore, on Friday, November 4. Sprenger grabbed Men’s 50m breast-stroke title, while Evans
pocketed Women’s 200m freestyle crown.
In the 50m breast-stroke final heat, Sprenger beat his compatriots, Brenton Rickard and Naoya Tomita of Japan by hitting the finishing barrier in a record breaking time of 26.67 seconds. Christian Sprenger was the gold medallist in the 4x100m medley race
at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, in Delhi. Earlier, he won the gold medal in the respective race at the 2006 editions, in Melbourne.  
Meanwhile, Rickard earned silver medal in a time of 26.83 seconds and Tomita pocketed bronze title in 27.49 seconds. Yunkun Huang of China posted a unique time of 27.60 seconds to retain fourth position, while Kyuwoong Choi of Korean earned fifth spot by
claiming the finishing blocks in a mark of 28.03 seconds.
Egan Gans of United States picked sixth spot by clicking the finishing wall in a time of 28.27 seconds, whereas, HsinHung Chiang settled at seventh place in a time of 28.45 seconds. Finally, Cho Yi Chen was placed eighth in the respective meet with a mark
of 28.89 seconds.
Afterwards, the Women’s 200m freestyle crown was clinched by Blair Evans of Australia after hitting the finishing fence in a fastest time of 1 minute and 55.48 seconds. Evans won the gold medal in the 4x200m freestyle at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, in Delhi.
In the meantime, Kylie Palmer of Australia pocketed silver medal in a time of 1 minute and 56.10 seconds and Merinda Dingjan of Australia settled for bronze title in a mark of 1 minute and 56.45 seconds. Ophelie Cyrielle Etienne of France settled at fourth
place in a mark of 1 minute and 56.53 seconds.
Emma Mckeon of Australia earned fifth place in a mark of 1 minute and 57.19 seconds, while Melissa Ingram of New Zealand finished at sixth spot in 1 minute and 57.31 seconds.
